THE RESIDENCE PROGRAM
Parent of 12 y/o player (male). He's a top level / elite player. The best camp he's attended was not in the us, but these are not far behind: YPT - competition was great, talented players, very good coaching staff (international youth FC coaches). Disappointed that they wouldn't train if the temp exceeded 94 (we are from a climate that is consistently above that 8 months of the year lol). Good camp.

I remember the trip was organized but relaxed. We seemed to have the time to enjoy ourselves, but we got a lot accomplished. The castles were great, and gave us a test of the culture. Food was good, and the parent free time was a great idea. Watching our kids play internationally was such a privilege. Their game went to another level after that. They seemed to become more aware of their potential after playing those teams. Maybe more training time on the team fields would make it memorable. Great memories!

Being a former competitive player and now youth coach I felt it good to give you some feedback on my observations and thoughts my son had. Initially the clinic appealed to both of us because it was slated as a Strikers/Finishing clinic. You stressed explosiveness while attacking. I did like, and see the value of your 2 shooting drills. I will probably utilize both for my future practices.

He said "I have a lot to work on". He has major goals and is excited to hear how he can get better. Michael said he was going to email you about specific feedback for him. So look out for his email. As for the rest of the group, everyone enjoyed themselves. The immediate feedback was good, most kids wanted more time on the ball & a more intense session. But I think everyone understood that it was the first time & that you probably needed to explain more than usual. I'm sure most would do it again. And we will spread the word. Also, if you decide CT is too far or not enough players, would you include some of these players in your NY dates? Thanks again, and I look forward to having you here soon. Take care.

My son attended YPT and had a great time. He really liked his coach, although some of the coaches struggle with English. Most kids from East coast, my son always had a conflict with region 2 camp so I am sure that effects where the kids come from. Nothing but thumbs up.

I have to tell you we took Gavin to a tryout for Falcon Futball Club which isn't premier or anything but I was really surprised at his ball handling skills. The coach was really praising him for getting open with the ball and making good passes. I asked Gavin where he learned those moves and he said from Coach John. Just wanted you to know the training is paying off for him.

It was an awesome trip! Everything was very organized. The mixture of being able to go and see places and watch the professional games were perfect. It was alot of fun and I think it could not of been planned any better. Going to the concentration camp was one of best places that I thought was well worth going to.

I'm sitting here thinking and honestly I really can't recall anything that bothered me. However, I was also an experienced traveler, love to travel, and not afraid to travel out of the country, so I was looking forward to it from the start. When presented, cost was an initial issue for a few, but most felt the overall cost of the trip was good for what it included. If I recall, the timing of pulling it together was about the same too--January thru August. I thought it was pretty well managed, trip info and updates were shared timely, and honestly, I was glad you did all the organizing and arrangements and I didn't have to:) It all worked out very well I thought. I know by the time we were at the airport waiting to go, I felt we were all ready. I didn't feel unorganized or that I was clueless as to what the trip was about or what we were going to be doing while over there, etc.

What Galen found very helpful in the session was your dissection of certain skills. While skill training has been ongoing, Galen said that no other coach has broken down the skills to that level and as a result, he was able to figure out what he had been doing incorrectly in the past and make corrections. Aaron enjoyed the training on Sunday. He said he liked the feedback you gave him. He also enjoyed working on the 1 v 1s, shooting, and juggling. He recognizes that he needs work on all of these things. He has interest in playing in college, but the short term goal is to make JV next year. We liked that it was a small group setting so he can get more feedback and touches on the ball. We are hoping that the additional training will increase his confidence with the ball. He has played defense for most of his travel club and school ball years and so he needs additional confidence in the offensive side of soccer. This is important especially during tryouts since the tryouts are never per a position but rather the kids overall capabilities.

My son Austin enjoyed his time training at the YPT sessions you had at Lanco. It seemed that you were able to hone in on specific areas that each player could work on, and implement that during the sessions both during the drills and the scrimmages. The drills were meaningful: my boys could see why they were addressing the new drills, and were able to see how those new skills and ideas could be utilized in game situations.
